‘Robin Hood’
The weekend was spent with members of the Victorian Opera Northwest at Urmston Grammar School recording their latest venture, Macfarren’s Robin Hood.
Robin Hood was the most successful of Macfarren’s operas, being revived a year after the première production. During the late 1850’s and early 1860’s, the Robin Hood legend was a popular subject and a number of stage productions are recorded.
The current performance features a full orchestra, chorus and soloists and the successful weekend was thoroughly enjoyed by all those taking part. More information about the company can be found at Victorian Opera Northwest.
