A True Yorkshire Christmas

We have completed the work with the Stannington Brass Band and featuring the Bolsterstones Male Voice Choir in the CD entitled “A Stannington Christmas”
The recording features many of the local carols which originated around the middle of the 19th century and which have been passed down from generation to generation. The tradition of singing tunes named after local places has been a somewhat unique feature of the history of the villages to the north west of Sheffield and the singing of them, centred around local village public houses, is a tradition still greatly enjoyed today.
The CD is due for release shortly and more information can be found on the band’s website at www.stanningtonbrassband.org.uk.
