“A Sussex Celebration” MHP122

We have spent the weekend in the beautiful Sussex countryside recording the Lewes, Glynde and Beddingham Brass Band, LGB Brass.

The band was formerly known as Glynde and Beddingham Brass Band, which was formed in 1922 by William Turner, the station master at Glynde, the downland village between Lewes and Glyndebourne opera house. The name change occurred in 2002 to reflect their wider membership and to reinforce the organisation’s strong links with Lewes Town Council

In addition to contesting, the Band undertakes a number of public performances throughout the year in East and West Sussex,

In promotion of their centenary year the recording features a new musical commission, “A Sussex Celebration” by the young Cornish born composer Christopher Bond, https://www.christopherbondmusic.co.uk/.

You can learn more about the Band by visiting their website http://www.lgbbrass.co.uk/

The CD will be available for the Centenary Concert being held on Saturday 30th of July at the Town Hall, High Street, Lewes’
