Band of the Scots Guards

The second of our recording projects at the Guards Chapel featured the Band of the Scots Guards.

Their repertoire included three of the seven elements of Philip Sparkes’ Hymn of the Highlands.

Alladale features three of the Bands saxophonists. Summer Isles highlights the Band’s principal euphonium player Lance Corporal Robbie Henderson. The third item is the exhilarating Strathcarron, the Sword Dance.

The Band also recorded a number of marches which will form part of their ‘Heritage’ project. This promotes music exclusively written by former Band members and Directors of Music and one of these spotlights a Scottish piper.

Again, the items will be initially available for free download on the music library operated by the Household Division.
